Overeenkomst inzake economische en technische samenwerking tussen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en het Hasjemitische Koninkrijk Jordanië

The two Contracting Parties will develop and promote their reciprocal relations of friendship and cooperation in the commercial, economic, industrial, mining, agricultural and technical fields in the interest of the people of their two countries.

In order to attain the objectives set out in Article 1, the Contracting Parties will aim at:
(a) The conclusion at official or private level of specific arrangements relating to projects in the fields set out in Article 1, according to the laws and regulations in force in their respective countries.
(b) Cooperation in the study, the drawing up and/or the implementation of industrial, mining, agricultural and infrastructural projects and the implementation of other economic projects of common interest.
(c) The organization of traineeships in industrial, mining and agricultural enterprises as well as in technical institutions.
(d) The exchange of know-how, specialised techniques, and documentation related to them.
(e) The promotion of trade between the two countries.

The conditions with regard to projects in the fields mentioned in Article 1 shall be agreed upon between the nationals concerned of the two countries, within the framework of the relevant laws and regulations.

With the aim of facilitating the establishment of the cooperation referred to in the present Agreement, the Contracting Parties shall ensure the provision of the administrative authorisations and necessary facilities within the framework of the relevant laws and regulations as well as the economic policy in force in their respective countries.

The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan shall:
(a) ensure that the seconded experts and members of their families belonging to their household receive protection for their person and their property;
(b) levy no taxes or other public charges on payments made from funds of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to seconded experts for services rendered under the projects implemented in accordance with the present Agreement; the same shall apply to any payments made to firms carrying out assistance activities within the scope of the present Agreement on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
(c) permit the persons referred to in the first sentence of paragraph (a) above the import and export for the duration of their stay, duty and tax-free and without providing security, articles intended for their personal use.

The Contracting Parties shall in particular encourage joint ventures in which nationals of both States take part in accordance with the laws, rules, and regulations in force in both countries.

Each Contracting Party undertakes to facilitate with regard to the other Contracting Party, to the extent permitted by the former Party's legislation, the holding on its territory, by the other Contracting Party or by its nationals, of economic and commercial exhibitions and displays.

The Contracting Parties agree to establish a joint Committee on economic and technical cooperation composed of representatives of the two countries.
The joint Committee shall:
(1) Discuss any matter pertaining to the implementation of the present Agreement;
(2) Explore the fields in which it considers the cooperation between the two countries might be broadened;
(3) Make recommendations in cases where the implementation of the Agreement might be furthered.
The Committee shall meet at the request of either Contracting Party, in principle once a year.

(1). The present Agreement shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date on which the Contracting Parties have informed each other in writing that the procedures constitutionally required therefor in their respective countries have been complied with, and shall remain in force for a period of five years.
(2). As regards the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the present Agreement shall apply to the Kingdom as a whole, unless the notification provided for in paragraph (1) of this Article provides otherwise.
(3). Unless notice of termination has been given by either Contracting Party at least six months before the date of the expiry of its validity, the present Agreement shall be extended tacitly for an indefinite period, each Contracting Party reserving the right to terminate the Agreement upon notice of at least six months.
(4). Any such termination shall have no effect on the fulfilment of contracts made under the provisions of the present Agreement.
(5). Subject to the period mentioned in paragraph (3) of this Article, the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands shall be entitled to terminate the application of the present Agreement separately in respect of the Netherlands Antilles.
